Employee

Employees are the life force of any company. but then again, regardless of how carefully and selectively you choose your employees, some rotten apples still make it to the pile. It's no big deal; it really happens in the hiring process. But then again, in the end, you should be able to pinpoint the good employees - the employees you'd want and you'd want to find more of.

First of all, you need to be see the different kinds of employees. It's quite simple really. You can easily distinguish your employees into these three classifications:

1. The Good Enough Employee: The good enough employee does everything in a good enough manner. They're good enough not to get fired, even when they're known for slacking and procrastinating. Regardless, these employees seem to have found the magic line. They never cross that line and know well enough when they should come out with their good enough output.

To this employee, the measure of professional success is if he or she is able to mimic work, while doing minimal actual work, minimal effort at the minimal time. It's a wonder how this employee ever comes out with required output!

2. The Okay Employee: The okay employee is your typical employee. This employee always tries to give you your money's worth. He or she earns every penny you give him or her. What's great about this employee is that he or she does as you say and as he or she is paid. This employee never cheats you of company time. As an employee, he or she is respectful such that he or she knows their duties as responsibilities as employee of the company.

The downside here is that this employee never goes beyond what's expected of him or her - what's stipulated in his or her job descriptions. This employee is usually not motivated to expand his or her knowledge and corporate influence by doing more and getting involved more.

3. The Overachieving Employee: The overachieving employee is the type of employee you would want more of. This employee goes beyond and above the call of duty. He or she does the best to serve the company. As a responsible employee, he or she strives for learning and additional training. This kind of employee would want to do more - and be more - for the company.

Often, companies boast of equal treatment of its employees. This should not be so-especially when there is a discrepancy on the type of employees. Companies should strive for a reward system, where good work is awarded and extra work and initiative is lauded.
